This London Org Trains The Homeless In Barista Skills And Offers New Purpose

"In some way, shape, or form, there's beauty inside everyone," says Cemal Ezal, the founder of Change Please, a London organization that provides support to people living in homelessness in the city.

Change Please provides people enrolled in its program with housing and a living wage while they receive job training as baristas. The course lasts six months, after which time those who complete their training get moved into full-time employment using their skills to sell coffee to sleepy and thirsty Londoners.

In this video, you can meet two men who are working with Change Please, named Paul and Jattinder. Each has his own story to tell about his life and his experience while being homeless. And each found motivation and purpose through Change Please.

"I felt like I was unemployable," says Paul. But thanks to his work training as a barista, he has a job that he truly enjoys, particularly when he gets to engage with people who stop for a cup. "My favorite part of the job is definitely interacting with the customers," he says, particularly those who take an interest in "what we're trying to do, in terms of the bigger picture."

Jattinder agrees: "I've never met so many appreciative, genuine, caring people."

It just goes to show: there's beauty inside everyone! And thanks to Change Please, buying a cup of coffee in London can also do serious good for society.
