When They Need It Most, Women Battling Cancer Get Free Home Cleaning

Debbie Sardine had a revelation in 2006. The house-cleaning business owner had just wrapped up a phone consultation with a woman who said that she couldn't afford the service because she had so many bills from fighting cancer.

"I sat there at my desk," Debbie recalls, "and wondered why it had never occurred to me to offer her the cleaning completely for free."

So that's exactly what Debbie did. That same year, Debbie started a non-profit called Cleaning For A Reason, which provides free house-cleaning services to women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer.

Fast-forward to today, and Cleaning For A Reason works with more than 1,2000 maid services who donate time in their local communities, and the organization has helped more than 27,000 women!

Brightening up the home of a person who is burdened with emotional, physical, and psychological stress makes a huge difference, as both the recipients and the providers of Cleaning For A Reason's services make clear.

"It gave me a sense of peace," says cancer survivor Stacey Schwinghammer, of her experience with Cleaning For A Reason. And Debbie, who has seen the positive impact many times over, says that she loves to see when the women she helps " find out that there's other people in their community who are rooting for them while they're in the battle for their life."

On the other side of things, cleaning technician Kathy Steinkopf says that providing the free service lifts her spirit as well. "It makes you feel not as much as a cleaning tech," she shares, "but you're a friend who cleans their home."

At a dark time in people's lives, Kathy continues, "what we do lifts them right back up again."

We consider ourselves so fortunate to have friends who are dedicated to helping provide love to senior dogs in need. It was with some of those friends that we produced this music video for an original song called "Never Too Old to Love."
